Dear Dr. Linda,
Help! We’re doing jigsaw puzzles, playing games, reading books, but before I know it, my kids are either back on their phones, watching TV or fighting. The fighting in my house right now is out of control. Any suggestions?
Finding activities to do with your kids during this very stressful time, is easy. What’s difficult is being in the same space for weeks and months at a time. The key to a calm house is learning how to communicate with each other. If we don’t know how to talk and listen to each other, the stress we’re under will even become more stressful. So, what can everyone do, from young to old, to get along? Either everyone moves into their own room and doesn’t talk to anyone else in the house, which will get rather boring and lonely, or learn how to communicate. Improving communication skills during this difficult time will not only reduce the fighting in your house, but will also help your children develop communication skills. Good communication skills are essential for a happy and healthy life.
An easy and fun venue to help your children learn how to communicate, is through play.
