Learning Objective: While having fun playing these familiar games, children have unlimited opportunity to practice their reading skills. The purposeful repetition helps children learn the phonics rule and improve decoding, blending, and fluency.
Methodology: These cards are designed for multi-sensory use following Orton-Gillingham methodology. The cards are not laminated to allow children to write and draw to customize (if appropriate) their cards for maximum learning benefit. Children also enjoy physically separating the four perforated sheets into decks.
For convenience, upper case letters are used on playing cards to eliminate confusion over similar looking letters (e.g. upper case “i” and lower case “L”).
